Beverly Sparks had been widowed for nearly five years. At the family's Thanksgiving dinner she announced she would not be joining them for Christmas because she booked herself on a six day Christmas cruise. The news set the family in an uproar. Emily (her eldest) was against the idea of her mother traveling alone; so she approached Mr. Melvin, a family friend, to book passage on the same cruise to keep an eye on her. The only problem was that Melvin (the family's mechanic) had secretly been in love with Beverly (his best friend's wife) for years. He began to admire her even before Ronald passed away. Would this be his opportunity to finally have Bev to himself? Would she be shocked to find out that he was in love with her, or would this outlandish escapade ruin everybody's Christmas and bring more pain to her already aching hearts?
